Red sky at night

Updated: Aug 8, 2022

I had thought about going to the lake and trying to capture some sunrise snaps - but have you seen what time sunrise is at the moment?

05.35, that's just a bit early, even for me.

So quick change of plan and off to the lake to take some photographs in the dying light as the sun set.

I wanted to try and get some that included some 'bokeh, Bokeh refers to blur produced in out-of-focus parts of an image. The website PhotoGuide Japan https://photojpn.org/words/len.html describes it as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light" The term itself comes from Japan and translates probably not surprisingly as “blur".

I also wanted to try using some filters in particular to help bring out the clouds. I had done a course on using filters ( https://www.harrybehindthelens.com/ ) but I've hardly used the filters I subsequently bought. I hoped they would help with longer exposures, minimizing glare and enhancing colours.

I have done a little post-production but tried to keep it to a minimum - there were some beautiful colours in the sky, the lake and the clouds.
