I’ve written about how it is often just before I leave the lakes that I see something more unusual or dramatic. https://gileslury.wixsite.com/my-site-1/post/the-grand-finale

I’ve written about how I like grebes and have spent the year watching them and their ‘circle of life’ https://gileslury.wixsite.com/my-site-1/post/like-father-like-son-well-maybe-not

This week the two combined. I decided to stop at a final hide and a have a quick look for the goosander a ‘proper’ birdwatcher had mentioned seeing there earlier.

I would see the goosander (more in my next blog), but before that, some way out, I saw a grebe and took the following shots.

I had seen a grebe feeding its young but have never seen one eating something for itself. - so was naturally delighted to capture this.

About Me

I often describe myself as a Lego watch wearing, VW Beetle driving, Disney loving father of five but perhaps i should add that I'm a Canon using distinctly amateur photographer and occasional writer
